Description | Douglas had great pleasure in receiving 'The Iliad' with Herschel's own handwriting. She found it on return from Corley, although she knew about it from a letter of Bella's. She is touched by the association with their mutial friend, who took a lively interest in the work; and only last year she heard his thoughts as he received specimens of the manuscript from Herschel. She reiterates her thanks, gives love to Lady Herschel and to Bella and Amelia. She hopes his accounts of Maria may have improved. |
