TitleLetter from Charles Calder Stewart, Free Manse, Scone, to William James Herschel
CreatorStewart; Charles Calder (1804-1876); British Minister in the Free Church of Scotland
Date9 March 1864
DescriptionCongratulating William on his forthcoming marriage, using it as an opportunity to break the ice after a gap in communication of ten years. He comments on the blessings of marriage and from his own union with 'Aunt Jemima'. He considers that Miss Hardcastle [Anne Emma Hardcastle, later Herschel] looked very delicate. He hopes for a possible meeting on their marriage tour, since William's return to India means 'it is not likely we shall meet again on Earth'.
