DescriptionHe thanks Bella for her letters, saying that he is in a fair way to reaching his six months' holiday period. He appreciated her description of Carry [Caroline Emilia Mary Gordon, née Herschel] and asks her not to think too much about what he said on the 'Epistle to the Hebrews'. He gives other family news and syas that he has had an extension of service at his current location, meaning that he will be unable to travel to the Neilgherries and back. He notes the possibility of escorting Carry on his return to India, although he cannot adapt his timings. He will go home via Bombay [Mumbai] and could escort the two women [Carry and Emma Herschel]. He gives thanks for the news about Harriet Lubbock.
