| Description | A welcome note from his mother and Bella [Isabella Herschel] speaks of his mother having an unusually bad cold. Julia [Herschel] brings a better account. She came 'laden with honey, flowers, fruit and implements of amusement'. He describes the weather, sitting out on the verandah in dressing gowns and blankets. He is pleased with the account of baby Arthur and encloses a line to Mrs Shephard. He agrees about the value of the manuscripts: 'they are not capable of valuation & have therefore no money value'. |
