DescriptionIncludes copies of obituaries written by C M Cooling and Arthur Penman, an obituary written for the Climbers' Club Journal, a letter by Nye for 'Geothechnique', which he sent with a draft of an obituary by Penman, and a copy of Ice, the journal of the Glaciological Society, containing an obituary. Correspondence with Roy Butterfield and Elizabeth Stager, a friend of Ward, is also present.

There is some material in the file that predates Ward's death in late April 1996. This includes a draft history of the International Commission on Snow and Ice (ICSI) written by Uwe Radok, a copy of which was sent to both Nye and Ward for comment, and a letter from Ward to Nye dated 22 January 1996, containing some of his suggestions. Copies of some earlier biographical notes on Ward, from the 1960s, are also present.
