Citation | Woodman, Herbert Ernest (Cambridge0. D.Sc. (Leeds), Ph.D. (Gottingen), M.A. (Cantab.). Lecturer in Agricultural Chemistry, University of Cambridge, and head of the Nutrition Section of the Animal Nutrition Institute, Cambridge. Discoveries in the chemical side of animal nutrition, the results of which have appeared mainly in the 'Journal of Agricultural Science'. Among these are; (1) The composition and digestibility of pasture grass at different stages of growth. The results of this have led to the founding of a new rural industry ("grass-drying") providing home-grown concentrates for animal production. (2) The mechanism of the breakdown and utilization of cellulose in ruminant digestion (3) The influence of nutrition on growth and conformation of the bacon pig.
