Citation | Morton, Richard Alan (Liverpool). Lecturer in chemistry and spectroscopy, the University of Liverpool. Distinguished by his specroscopic researches and in particular his investigations of vitamins. Has published 75 papers and articles. Amongst his most important contributions to knowledge may be mentioned (1) The accepted physical standard of vitamin A assay; (2) His discovery of the existence of two vitamins akin to vitamin A; (3) The quantitative determination of the distribution of vitamin A in various organs and the discovery of its high occurrence in halibut liver oil; and (4) The discovery that by extraction from halibut intestines the supply of vitamin A may be doubled. |
