With notes on wind direction and strength, and general weather remarks, usually on cloud cover and snow.
Commencing: 'Meteorological journal kept at Cumberland House from Oct. 14. 1778 to Dec. 31 and from Oct. 10 to Dec. 31. 1789 by Joseph Colen. Lat. 53 degrees 56 3/4" No. Long. 102 degrees 11" West'. The author comments on the instruments in use at the end of each section. For 1778 [p.11], 'The Thermometer used for these observations, was a mercurial one divided the same as the Spirit Thermometer and made by Dollond...'. For 1789 observations [p.23], 'The Thermometer used for the Observations in 1789 was a spirit Farenheit by Dollond...'.
