| Description | Monthly meteorological data sheets, January-August 1842, in two parts: form 1 containing uncorrected meteorological observations, form 2 corrected meteorological results.
Form 1, main table, contains columns of information on: date and Moon; barometer; temperature and dew point; wet bulb thermometer; temperature minimum and maximium, with solar radiation data; temperature of sea or running water; wind direction and gauge; rainfall; electricity; general weather remarks; latitude and longitude at noon; with a repeated date and Moon column. A secondary table, below, is for uncorrected and corrected hourly observations of the barometer and thermometer on the 21st day of the month.
Form 2, main table, contains columns of information on: date and Moon; pressure of atmosphere; elasticity of vapour; and temperature (maximum, minimum and mean). A second set of tables, below, were intended to presens monthly temperature and pressure in graphical form, but these have not been completed for this period.
No signatures of the officer responsible for the observations on sheets 48-63.
Each sheet is inscribed: 'Published by Richard & John E. Taylor, Red Lion Court, Fleet Street, London.'; and lower right: 'J. Basire sc.' |
