DescriptionDaily observations at hourly intervals at Singapore. Readings of the declination magnetometer, bifilar magnetometer and its attached thermometer, vertical force magnetometer and its attached thermometer, uncorrected barometer and its attached thermometer, dry and wet thermometers, dry and wet thermometers in the shade, temperature of dew point and elasticity of vapour [four daily observations each], miminum temperature, solar and terrestrial radiation and Moon's age. With daily standard thermometer and corrected barometer readings. There are additional solar radiation readings, taken hourly, with declination magnetometer readings 1-11 August and vertical force magnetometer readings, 9-31 August ['in shed near Observatory']. There are also term day observations, commencing at 10.00p.m. on 26 August, and concluding at 9.00p.m. on 27 August [Gottingen mean time], with readings of the magnetometers, barometer, wet and dry thermometers, with wind direction and pressure, rainfall, and cloud cover [Singapore mean time is added].

The format of these observation changes to large single sheets for most types of single observation during August.

Each sheet is headed: 'Observatory at Singapore. Abstract of hourly observations....' or 'Abstract of Term-day observations...'. Signed on various pages 'C.M. Elliot Lt. Engineers', and with checking initials. Inscribed [p.26]: 'Magnetic Observations Singapore August - 1843'.
