DescriptionDaily and hourly observations made at Colaba Observatory, arranged by month and alternating between the two types of recording sheet. The daily observations were made at 9.30a.m., and at 3.30p.m., [local Bombay time]. Columns for day of the month, and for various readings associated with the barometer and hygrometer, with wind, cloud; also, various readings associated with self-registering wet and dry thermometers and rainfall. End columns have space for comments on prevalent diseases ['not known'], natural history and general weather remarks.

The hourly observations were taken on single days of the month over a 24 hour period. For these. only the columns relating to barometer and hygrometer readings are completed, together with notes on wind direction and force, cloud, and generak remark on weather.

Each sheet is inscribed verso, either as 'Monthly Meteorological Observations. for... [month and year] Government Observatory Bombay', or 'Hourly Meteorological Observations for... [month and year] Government Observatory Bombay'. Sheets are signed intermittently, by Govind Ramchundra as obsrever, and endorsed by Lieutenant E.F.T. Fergusson, Superintendent of the Observatory.
