Title | Draft letter from Sir Alfred Bray Kempe, Coram Court, Lyme Regis, Dorset, to Louisa Elizabeth Lawrence, 4 Prince's Gate |
Date | 31 May 1914 |
Description | Sir Archibald Geikie has forwarded her letter and Kempe notes her intentions on presenting £4,000 to the Royal Society. He states that before he can do anything else as Treasurer, the matter must be subject to formal acceptance by Council of the Royal Society and he will present it at the next meeting on 18 June. He suggests that there may be legal difficulties in vesting the sum with the President, rather than with the Royal Society, explaining his reasoning, and noting ways around the difficulty. He asks if he may call on Miss Lawrence to discuss the matter further. |
