TitleReport on the application of Arthur Compton for renewal of Mackinnon Studentship for a third year, by William Maddock Bayliss
Datec.20 June 1921
DescriptionDiscussion of Arthur Compton's research report, concluding that Bayliss is inclined 'to doubt whether Dr. Compton's point if view is likely to lead to much real advance in the knowledge of the phenomena with which his proposed researches are to be considered'. He does not deny Compton's experimental ability or interest, but since a third year of the Mackinnon Studentship would be for a student of exceptional merit, he concludes that the Studentship might be advertised and Compton taken into consideration with other applicants.
