Description | Material relating to the establishment and administration of the Stothert Fund. The residuary estate of John Henry Stothert, lecturer in pharmacology at University College London, was donated to the Royal Society in 1937, following Stothert's accidental drowning. The Fund was established 'for the support of research in the field of medicine, including the sciences on which medical knowledge is based, but particularly with a view to increasing knowledge useful to the investigation or treatment of disease and the relief of suffering in human beings or animals'. A research fellowship was endowed using the bequest. |
