| Description | Brass plaque bearing an impression of the Royal Society coat of arms. The arms were engraved by explosives and the plaque sprayed with a varnish layer. In original carry case inscribed: 'ARMS OF THE ROYAL SOCIETY BRASS PLAQUE (sprayed with Necolustre Ardeer May 1948/ B. M. C. 5 Box B' and label inscribed: 'This Plaque has been sprayed with "Necolustre". Ardeer. May 1948'. 'Ardeer' refers to the ICI's factory in Ardeer, Ayrshire. |
