Title | Letter from Edward Sabine, Woolwich to Humphrey Lloyd, Trinity College, Dublin |
Date | 22 June 1839 |
Description | A report [unspecified] is forthcoming. Mrs Sabine [Elizabeth Juliana Leeves] is currently completing a translation of [Karl Friedrich] Gauss's latest theoretical work on terrestrial magnetism but Sabine does not know how to credit her, or simply write that 'we are indebted to a lady for the translation of this article'.
Officers of the Ordnance who will be employed at the magnetic observatories in Canada, St Helena and the Cape of Good Hope, are to travel to Dublin for instruction from Lloyd. |
