| Description | Eardley-Wilmot thanks Lloyd for pointing out his mistake regarding the value of the tan of L of the deflection in the vertical force magnet, and discusses further mistakes made. Discussion on altering the position of the horizontal force magnet. Eardley-Wilmot informs Lloyd that he does not have room in his dip house to set up an auxiliary apparatus. Eardley-Wilmot clarifies his point regarding the mean of the true readings of the declination magnetometer. The curve for the barometer will be made on the large scale. Eardley-Wilmot assumes that he is correct in following [Charles James Buchanan] Riddell’s directions to not remove the horizontal force apparatus once a month, and that the horizontal force and vertical force do not need to be removed at each experiment of absolute intensity. Discussion on the frequency of the observations. There are regular observations carried out simultaneously with Van Diemen's Land [Tasmania; Lutruwita or Truwana] Observatory. |
