Description | Monthly report of the superintendents of exploration. A letter dated February 9th [1867] from Mr Corfield has cast doubt on his earlier assessment of the excavated heel bone being human - it might possibly be from a bear. Discussion on the Cavern's two entrances, one in particular was used by Mr McEnery and other exploration visitors. Much of February has been taken up with moving deposits from the Northern entrance. About 200 flint flakes have been found, together with animal bones, human teeth and other artefacts. |
