Description | Monthly report of the superintendents of exploration. The 'Lecture Hall' excavation is not yet completed - work was 'very heavy' in places. Some flint implements were found along with many animal remains, including antlers. The mammoth molar is the largest specimen of the kind they had found. Notes the poor health of the principal workman, Mr Charles Keeping, who gave his notice and left on Saturday 23rd November [1867]. Keeping was replaced by Mr George Smerdon, who was promoted to workman-in-chief. |
