TitleLetter from Jean François Dominique Arago to Thomas Young
Date8 March 1824
DescriptionNo origin listed. Dated by postmark. Addressed to Young at the Board of Longitudes.
Arago is relieved to receive a letter from Young, as an article had reported his death caused by the curse of the hieroglyphs, following the death of [Friedrich August Wilhelm] Spohn in Germany. Following the annoucement, von Humboldt and Arago tried to find evidence.
Arago will be ready to send the article on refraction in 3-4 days for Encyclopedia Britannica.
The Bureau des longitudes is busy verifying what caused the difference in measurements of the 4th satellite during the eclipse. The Moon tables should be sent shortly, they follow [Marie-Charles-Théodore de] Damoiseau's theory and are conform to [Johann Karl] Burckardt's.
Signature has been cut-out.
