TitleCopy letter, James Hudson, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society, to Dr [John] Latham, Winchester
Date1 June 1832
DescriptionHudson has compared the plate in the first volume of the Philosophical Transactions from Latham's set to the Royal Society's, in consultation with [James] Basire. They are taken from different copper plates. The plate sizes are different and Society's is a strong line engraving, while Latham's is in aquatint. He believes that Latham's is the older copy and the Society's has the appearence of being copied in a mechanical manner from an existing plate.

With a note: 'See Dr Latham's Lttr. no.11'.
