RecipientBalfour; John Hutton (1808-1884); British botanist
Date25 May 1865
DescriptionExplaining errors regarding the distribution of parcels, in reference to a previous letter. White explains that the Royal Society previously recieved and distributed scientific books and parcels to be sent to recipients in the UK and internationally, but this proved to be unmanageable due to the large quantities of parcels sent to the Society. Messrs Stevens took on the role of distributing the parcels but there has been an error with the processing of the parcels resulting in a mistake in which clients have been overcharged. White explains their mistake, noting their apologies and writes that he incloses a copy of the circular explaining this interruption to the distribution.
