TitleThe National Food Policy: Cereals
Date5 June 1917
DescriptionReport from the Food (War) Committee. States the aim of a national food policy as 'the maintenance of the supply of bread at the highest possible point' -- states this aim was carried out by forcing millers to add other cereals to their flour and encouraging the public to 'save bread' by eating other cereals -- says this approach was disastrous and confusing, of no benefit to the nation's food supplies -- recommends that control of cereals be turned over to the Wheat Commission. Includes draft with comments, revised copy, and final version.
