| Title | Letter from Edward L S [Lygon Somers] Cocks, 43 Charing Cross, to [Alfred Bray] Kempe |
| Creator | Cocks; Edward Lygon Somers (1858-1923); treasurer of the Royal Geographical Society |
| Recipient | Kempe; Sir; Alfred Bray (1849-1922) |
| Date | 9 March 1903 |
| Description | Wishes to help [Cyril] Longhurst when the Antarctic Expedition comes to an end. His cousin, [?Viscount] Cranborne may be able to procure a consulship for him. Cocks has asked Longhurst if he would be interested in such a position, though he won't be old enough until next January. Cocks thinks his chances will be greatly improved if Sir [William] Huggins, Kempe, and perhaps Sir [Michael] Foster will write a letter to support him. [Sir Clements] Markham has agreed to do so. |
