Description | Memorial fund to include not less than £15,000. Suggested that a memorial take place in St. Paul's Cathedral and that a memorial tablet be placed in the main body of the Cathedral. Lady Scott is suggested as sculptress for the tablet. It is also suggested that a more public monument be installed, with the bodies of five dead men, near the Royal Geographic Society. The remaining money (£7,500) is to constitute an endowment fund in aid of polar research and called the 'Captain Scott Memorial Fund.' Trustees of the fund could include the Mayor of London, the President of the Royal Society, and the President of the Royal Geographic Society. |
