TitleLetter from [William Thomson, Lord] Kelvin, 15 Eaton Place, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorThomson; William; Baron Kelvin (1824-1907); British mathematician and physicist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date23 May 1904
DescriptionKelvin has written to the Master of Peterhouse and to the Vice-Chancellor in the hope of getting [Éleuthère Élie Nicolas] Mascart's name in the list for an honorary D.Sc., in recognition of his work with the Association of Academies. [Arthur] Schuster had told him that Larmor is shocked by the omission and Kelvin hopes he will help. Mascart is chief of several representatives of French physical sciences on the occasion and none have been included in the D.Sc. list printed in 'Nature'. It would be insulting not to include the President of the French Academy of Sciences, beside him being worthy of the honour.
