| Title | Letter from J [Joseph] Larmor, Hughenden Terrace, Belfast, to 'Dear Master' [Charles Taylor] |
| Creator | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Recipient | Taylor; Charles (1840-1908); British college head |
| Date | 17 October 1884 |
| Description | He thinks that he stated in his last letter that the pedals of an ellipse are limaçons, but this is quite wrong. He forgot to mention that each double tangent of the curve contains m double points of the orthoptic curve and each inflexional tangent contains the cusps. He cannot see why I J should be cusps in the pedal of a circle. |
