| Title | Letter from Geo Fras [George Francis] Fitzgerald, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | FitzGerald; George Francis (1851-1901); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 7 November 1898 |
| Description | Fitzgerald does not see why giving a Rumford medal to [Oliver] Lodge requires apologies, and he is very glad that Lodge will have it. Fitzgerald cannot express any opinion on his competitors. Larmor does not say what has been given to [John] Kerr, but he deserves recognition, and [William] Huggins could not be passed over. Lord Rayleigh can wait, being still young, although Fitzgerald is surprised that he has not received recognition before now. Fitgerald thinks it ridiculous being mentioned with these men, as he has 'never done anything much'. |
