| Title | Letter from Geo Fras [George Francis] Fitzgerald, Trinity College, Dublin, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | FitzGerald; George Francis (1851-1901); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 23 April 1900 |
| Description | He asks Larmor to suggest one or two papers on electron theory of conduction for translation, citing [Konrad] Lorentz and [Karl Victor Eduard] Riecke. It is important to reach the young men forming views on electromagnetism, he thinks, but it would be no use publishing in Philosophical Transactions or in the Cambridge Transactions. He suggests the Philosophical Magazine, with a brief note on the Zeeman effect. Larmor might write a paper himself, but Fitzgerald thinks he would be too fond of condensing material. He gives an example of the type of irregularity which bewilders students. He reiterates what is needed to explain electron theory and the effects which would need to be included. |
