DescriptionA telegram has informed him that the President has influenza and cannot come to London. Vice-Presidents can take his place and the Treasurer should do so at the Society's meeting. However, for the dinner, a past-President should officiate. He notes the ill-health of [Joseph Dalton] Hooker and Kelvin. [William] Huggins should preside and Geikie is writing to him to find out if he can. If not, they must ask the senior Vice-President. [Alfred Bray] Kempe has written to Lord Rayleigh about his address.
