| Title | Letter from Arch [Archibald] Geikie, Haslemere, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Geikie; Sir Archibald (1835-1924); British geologist and historian |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 23 May 1910 |
| Description | Geikie does not mean to be bothered by [Thomas Henry] 'Holland's lucubration'. Geikie's opinion is that the Geological Survey of India is carried on fitfully. They have asked in vain for a map of the areas of surveyed and unsurveyed ground, which should take the Calcutta [Kolkata] office only a morning's work to produce. The only reason he can give for this is that a map would reveal the sporadic distribution of areas of work. Geikie sends a later marked 'private', but they should not let the matter be taken up by outsiders. Larmor was to find out how Lady [Margaret] Huggins had been left; [James] Dewar's statement suggests that she would need the continuance of her husband's pension, but he would like some evidence for this. |
