| Title | Letter from T L [Thomas Little] Heath, Treasury Chambers, Whitehall, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Heath; Sir Thomas Little (1861-1940); British civil servant and authority on ancient mathematics |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 16 May 1911 |
| Description | Sir George Murray has had more to do with the National Physical Laboratory than Heath, and therefore he showed Larmor's private letter to him, with [Richard Tetley] Glazebrook's unofficial explanation. Murray says they must wait for an official letter from Larmor before reaching a decision. £20,000 plus £5,000 for adaption at Bushey is wanted, but only £5,000 has been promised. They would need to be satisfied that an adequate amount would be contributed from sources other than Government. They do not know what private sources the Laboratory hopes to raise money from, or how much is to be raised. |
