| Title | Letter from E H [Edmond Herbert] Hills, Grayswood Copse, Haslemere, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Hills; Edmond Herbert Grove- [pseud. Colonel Rivers] (1864-1922); British astronomer |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 17 September 1906 |
| Description | He thanks Larmor for the additional part of the pole curve paper, which he follows, except for one point relatig to Turner's objection, but he will work on it again when he has the diagrams. [Arthur] Schuster was 'quite off the track', misled by the geographical features which Hills had added to the torque diagram drawn on the blackboard. He thought they had a curve fromNorth America to Greenland and back in a few weeks. He thinks they should leave out any geographical features in the diagrams unless they were on a Mercator map of the world. They could be shown on a plain diagram such as that of the polar track with the Greenwich meridian. He will draw them and see what Larmor thinks. |
