| Title | Letter from R T [Richard Tetley] Glazebrook, the National Physical Laboratory, Bushy House, Teddington, to Sir George Murray |
| Creator | Glazebrook; Sir Richard Tetley (1854-1935); British physicist |
| Recipient | Murray; George Herbert (1849-1936); British civil servant |
| Date | 14 August 1906 |
| Description | Glazebrook asks if Murray would like him to call at the Treasury before he goes away. On the question of competition, the whole work of the National Physical Laboratory should be considered. They wish to be able to show the benefits to industry if they were allowed to compete in a limited way. The Executive Committee laid out a report to Treasury a scheme of gradual development and he asks if they might direct the Laboratory in accordance with that. He envisages a future situation where a body of men might ask for some of the Laboratory's work to be stopped, because it conflicted with their interests. Glazebrook thinks a general committee with wide reference is required to judge the effects on industry of their decisions. |
