TitleLetter from Arch [Archibald] Geikie, Shepherd's Down, Haslemere, Surrey, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorGeikie; Sir Archibald (1835-1924); British geologist and historian
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date15 September 1914
DescriptionLarmor has Geikie's sympathy in the treatment of the Unionists by Government in the business of Home Rule. He hopes the Act will be nullified on the Statute Book. Geikie has received a letter from G.W. Walker who has had an offer to employ him for half his time as chief computer at the Ordnance Survey. He would like to accept if the Royal Society did not object. As their arrangement had been to do with fieldwork in Summer, Geikie does not see why he should not, although the Officers should decide. He asks if anything has been heard of Schuster, 'Is he shut up in Russia still?'
