TitleLetter from Arch [Archibald] Geikie, Shepherd's Down, Haslemere, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorGeikie; Sir Archibald (1835-1924); British geologist and historian
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date19 September 1920
DescriptionHe thanks Larmor for the kind thought of sending a copy of 'Matter and Motion'. He is glad that Larmor has republished Maxwell's treatise. Geikie knew [James Clerk] Maxwell slightly and had a profound regard for him. Geikie notes his own declining health, the presence of his grandson, and invites Larmor to stay. Larmor may have heard that the report of the Royal Commission on Trinity College Dublin is complete and in press. Geikie wrote the report after spending ten days in Dublin making a thorough examination of the institution's needs and if the recommndations are carried out, the College will be better off.
