Description | William Huggins looks forward to reading the full report of Larmor's Wilde Medal lecture. Huggins has reviewed the enclosed letter from See, noting that Larmor is likely to have seen his paper on earthquakes, and reports that See wishes to know if the Royal Society will accept a paper on the extension of the same principles. Huggins wishes ro send a few words in response, and hopes this can be done by either Larmor or [Archibald] Geikie. He states that Larmor's choice of candidates is satisfactory. Margaret Huggins agrees that she read the report of Larmor's in the 'Times' with keen interest. She is sorry to hear of the death of Lord Hemphill[?] and recalls the Irish dinner where she sat next to him, enjoying herself 'exceedingly'. She and also made friends with Sir Raymond West and his wife, and elaborates on her high opinion of their characters. |
