Title | Letter from William Huggins, 90 Upper Tulse Hill, S W [South West] London, to the Secretary [Joseph Larmor] |
Creator | Huggins; Sir William (1824-1910); British astronomer |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | c August 1905 |
Description | Notes that Larmor may publish the letter to Dr Robinson, but suggests he leaves out Robinson's assessment of 'Spottiswoode not having a fortune'. He discusses Spottiswoode's 'large income' and a house on Grosvenor Place, and that has entertained royalty. Huggins met Princess Louise[?] there one evening. He then discusses 'S's love letters', and that the matter of publishing them depends on their contents and public interest. He does not think is is necessary to include them in 'Philosophical Transactions' unless they are relevant to the scientific principles', but asks if they can be published elsewhere. He then states that he has struggled to identify the astronomical photographs he has taken. |
