TitleLetter from O J L [Oliver Joseph Lodge], Mariemont, Edgbaston, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorLodge; Sir Oliver Joseph (1851-1940); British physicist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date27 September 1905
DescriptionHe thanks Larmor for returning his paper promptly, and he agrees with most of the notes. He is glad that Larmor suggested that he should refrain from condemning [Johann Bernard] Stallo too much, but refers to his book where Larmor 'will find some rather wild statements'. Lodge acknowledges that he should speak more respectfully of him. There are wild statements in the second volume of Ward also. He will look for Larmor's letter in the Philosophical Magazine and if it is likely to hurt anyone; he assumes [John Henry] Poynting. In a postscript he refers to all force in the universe, wondering if the latter is mechanically determined, or if 'mind &c. can step in'.
