| Description | He is grateful for the trouble which Larmor is taking about the contribution to the [John Henry] Poynting volume. He does not think it out of place, as the [George Gabriel] Stokes volume consists of nothing but contributions from other mathematicians. Larmor's paper was of interest to Poynting and cognate to his subject. He will send a proof and the portions decided upon seem clearly specified, but he would like to add some of the introductory remarks, citing the passages. He does not urge it, but 'in these days of German Relativity anything that authoritatively emphasises the aether is useful'. He would preface it with a sentence such as the one he encloses [not present]. He sympathises with Larmor's 'nascent rebellion' against the waste of time in Westminster. |
