TitleLetter from O J L [Oliver Joseph Lodge], Normanton House, Lake, near Salisbury, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorLodge; Sir Oliver Joseph (1851-1940); British physicist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date9 December 1922
DescriptionLarmor's important letter arrived yesterday and the Philosophical Magazine woudl be proud to print any paper of his, perhaps in January. That may be a scramble and hardly enough for correcting proofs. About the paper itself, its withdrawal, and [James Hopwood] Jeans' objection, which is plausible at first sight, Lodge discusses Einstein's light beam deflection and the mass of the Sun and upon consideration, he does not see how Jeans gets his objection. He thinks it 'ample cheek' and cannot think why Larmor should withdraw it. He hopes he will include all, including a 'supplementary bit' in his Philosophical Magazine contribution.
