TitleLetter from Horace Lamb, Medindee, Burton Road, Didsbury, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorLamb; Sir Horace (1849-1934); British mathematician
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date14 January 1894
DescriptionLamb would like an independent view of aspects of the book 'Hydrodynamics'. He is undecided about the format, havign set up a few pages in the manner of [Andrew Russell] Forsyth's 'Functions'. He sends the sheets to Larmor, wondering whether the might be too big for a working book. He estimates 300 to 350 pages for his book and the size favours the many diagrams. The alternative would result in a work of 400 to 450 pages. His second point relates to d's which he dislikes 'flourishing their tails'. He notes his interest in the British Association report on magnetic rotations and he will wait to read 'Nature' until he is at the Royal Society.
