| Description | Lamb is relieved, thinking that he might be tempting Larmor into something he did not care about. He fears his intervention might have put Larmor off the Constantinople expedition, which was out of the question for Lamb. He will be sorry if they have to give up [Charles Emile] Picard for the Royal Society. He has little knowledge of Kronecker 'a determined arithmetizer'. H H [Herbert Hall] Turner was wrong on one point: [Arthur] Schuster was disgusted that there was a chance of 'M' getting in. Rucker [?], G.H.D. [George Howard Darwin] and D.G. [David Gill] did not fight for him. He hopes that Larmor will have a holiday and thinks that Kelvin's publications might be done by a skilled secretary. |
