Title | Letter from H M [Hector Munro] Macdonald, 52 College Bounds, Aberdeen, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Macdonald; Hector Munro (1865-1935); British mathematician |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 1 April 1912 |
Description | He has not heard from Larmor and imagines he has not seen the portrait [of William Davidson Niven]. Macdonald has paid the £70 and had £6 3s.3d. in hand, although Walker may get more contributions. It would cost 16 guineas to get 60 copies of the picture photographically reproduced but he will try to find a cheaper method. Burnside was not encouraging about sharing some of the cost. Macdonald is now at St. Andrews for an examiners' meeting. The first part of his work was written out some time ago and he hopes to finish during the summer. He thinks that Larmor is 'groaning under the burden of the politician' and asks if he will be at the meetings of the [London] Mathematical Society on 11 April. |
