Title | Letter from H M [Hector Munro] Macdonald, 52 College Bounds, Aberdeen, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Macdonald; Hector Munro (1865-1935); British mathematician |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 2 November 1912 |
Description | He is grateful to Larmor for adding the note to the paper, the proof of which he has. It will be corrected and ready for press this post. The theorem has allowed him to settle the effect of the nature of an opaque screen on the position of the diffraction bands, and he will be ready to communicate it to the L.M.S. [London Mathematical Society]. The proposals that Larmor made for a circular are agreeable. [William Davidson] Niven is glad that Macdonald managed to arrange with [Campbell] Lindsay Smith to alter the hand. He thinks that Larmor will be fed up with the early and late sittings at the House [of Commons]. He asks if it is true that [Andrew Russell] Forsyth is going to Calcutta and continues with other news. |
