Title | Letter from R T [Robert] Martin, 14 College Gardens, Belfast, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Martin; Robert T (fl.1880s-1910s); Irish academic |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 4 January 1908 |
Description | An effort is being promoted in Belfast by Lord Shaftesbury and others to have a statue of Lord Kelvin erected. He asks if Larmor would consent to have his name added as an Honorary Secretary, of which there will be five, with no secretarial duties. The Lord Mayor has called a town meeting to inaugurate the scheme and Martin asks if Larmor is likely to be in Ireland on 20 or 21 January. Lord Rayleigh is unlikely to be able to attend, he supposes. If Larmor cannot attend, Martin asks for a letter that might be read at the meeting. |
