DescriptionHe agrees with Larmor's paraphrasing of his argument, and he wished he could have put is so clearly. He notes the crucial point on whether l-beta [ratio of gas pressure to total pressure of gas and radiation] is constant in the stratification of a star. He has found a slight correction to the cooling formula. The table of values in his Bakerian Lecture is useful, he states, giving gas pressure and radiation pressure at a variety of depths, and the ratio varieds only slightly with depth. He discusses his ideas l-beta and on the photospheric layers. He notes Eddington's formula and Milne's belief that 'a knowledge of surface conditions tells us something about the interior'. He concludes by giving the value of his function
