| Title | Letter from E [Ernest] Rutherford, Physical Laboratories, The University, Manchester, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Rutherford; Ernest; Baron Rutherford of Nelson (1871-1937); New Zealand physicist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 29 November 1908 |
| Description | He appreciates Larmor's kind remarks and he hopes that his friends are not too startled by the rumours. He notes what Larmor says about [Thomas] Royd's paper. It would be better to take the paper as read, and give [William] Ramsay the right to reply in the same number. The paper is a dispassionate statement of fact, but rather than make a fuss, he would withdraw it, and he gives Larmor carte blanche to act. The main difficulty is that Ramsay's and [Alexander Thomas] Cameron's paper must be corrected. He would have liked to see [Hendrik] Lorentz again, but he has to be on hand when [John Henry] Poynting is lecturing there. |
