| Title | Letter from E R [Ernest Rutherford], 17 Wilmslow Road, Manchester, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Rutherford; Ernest; Baron Rutherford of Nelson (1871-1937); New Zealand physicist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 13 March 1919 |
| Description | He encloses a brief formal letter accepting the post at Cambridge at a salary of £1,250 [MS/603/9/211]. He will sacrifice the £125 special insurance with which the University compensated him for giving up a Carnegie pension when leaving McGill. He is not quite clear about the formalities required by Cambridge authorities, but he would say that he accepted an offer. It will be difficult to pull up roots, but he will do his best if the Electors take him. He will send a letter about [Joseph] Petavel tomorrow. |
