DescriptionReports that he has been in Florence a fortnight and seen Baron Stolth, Jack who has been sent into a convent for being troublesome amongst the Baron's antiquities, Dr Cochy, Captain Brown and Mr Cole at Leghorn, and Mr Griffoni who is recently widowed. Asks Folkes to enclose a letter from Prideaux's country agent in his next communication, which should be addressed to Rome. Since Folkes was in Florence a triumphal arch has been built for the current Duke. Prideaux dines with The Earls of Shrewsbury and Stafford, Lord Quarendon son of the Earl of Litchfields [Lichfield], Sir Roger Newdigate, Mr Naylor the Bishop of Chichester's son, Mr Molineux, Mr Bulstrode, Mr Colebrook, Mr Knatchbull and sometimes Folkes' old friend Mr Langleys. It is St Luke's day and Prideaux is going to the fair of Santa Maria Imponetta. Sends respects from himself and Humphrey [Prideaux]. Adds in a postscript that Callot has made a fine print of the fair and Prideaux has bid on some drawings of Guerino's. Comments on the pictures in the Palace Pitti including those by Bontivoglio and Raphael. Page four is annotated with numerical calculations.
